Gunter Has Big Day for Women’s Track & Field at S.U. Challenge
SELINSGROVE, Pa. - Sophomore Taylor Gunter (Laurel, Md.) posted a performance for the record book in the weight throw, leading the Goucher College women’s track & field team on the afternoon at the S.U. Challenge on Saturday.

In the weight throw, Gunter posted a throw of 44-feet, eight inches to finish in fourth overall in the event, besting competitors from NCAA Division I, II and III schools. The throw was also the fifth farthest in school history, and for the indoor season, is the third-best effort in the shot put in the Landmark Conference.
Elsewhere in field events, sophomore Natalie Kent (Media, Pa.) was eighth in the shot put with a 36 feet, 4.75 effort. Meanwhile, sophomore Gabby Blazek (New Orleans, La.) finished in a tie for ninth in the pole vault with a clearance of nine feet, 0.25 inches.
Gunter rounded out the top performances in field events with an 11th place finish in the shot put (35 feet, 6.75 inches).
In track events, Goucher's 4x200 team finished in eighth overall after crossing the finish line in 1:58.20, as the team bested both Landmark Conference foes from Scranton and Juanita. On Goucher's 4x200 team were sophomores Anna Gallina (Whitehall, Pa.), Victoria Wheeler (Kinnelon, N.J.), Michell Wolinsky (New York, N.Y.), and first-year Kennedy Lowry.
The Goucher College women's track & field team returns to action on Saturday, as they take part in the Albright Track & Field Invitational in Reading, Pa.
