Goucher Track And Field Readies For The Landmark Conference Indoor Track And Field Championships On Saturday
BALTIMORE, Md. – Taylor Gunter (Laurel, Md./Sandy Springs Friends School) will enter the Landmark Conference Indoor Track And Field Championships with the second-best seed marks in the weight throw and the shot put when the championship commences from the Garrett Center Field House on the campus of Susquehanna University on Saturday.
Gunter is second in the weight throw with a toss of 14.68m and second in the shot put with a hurl of 11.27m. The junior just missed the medal stand last year after finishing fourth in the shot put, but improved by one spot from her freshman campaign (fifth).
Gabby Blazek (New Orleans, La./Louise S McGehee) also enters the championships tied for second with a seed mark of 2.91m in the pole vault. The junior placed third in the pole vault at the indoor championships last year.
Anna Gallina (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall) is seeded fifth in the 60m dash (8.53) and 15th in the 200m dash (30.53) while Sydney Smith (Falls Church, Va./George Mason HS) is eighth in the 60m dash (8.70) and ninth in the 200m dash (28.64).
Mikayla Hinnant (Waldorf, Md./Westlake) ranks seventh in the shot put (10.00m) and 16th in the weight throw (9.95m). Hannah Brogan (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) is 28th in the 3000m run (13:18.38).
Charlotte Birnbaum (Princeton, N.J./West Windsor-Plainsboro North) (pole vault), Jennifer Alves (Rockville, Md./Richard Montgomery) (400-meter dash) and Victoria Wheeler (Kinnelon, N.J./Kinnelon) (high jump) each enter events with no marks. The Gophers will also be fielding 4x200m-relay and 4x400m-relay teams.
On the men's side, Darby Bauer (Perkiomenville, Pa./Boyertown Area) and his school-record throw of 13.51m is seeded sixth in the weight throw while he also ranks 15th in the shot put (11.11m).
Brandon Julot (Baltimore, Md./The SEED School of Maryland). ranks 10th on the shot put (10.76m) and 15th in the weight throw (10.76m) while Joel Gladney (Perry Hall, Md./Perry Hall) is 14th in the shot put (11.17m).
Miles (Mia) Taylor (Bowie, Md./Wakefield) also sits in the Top-10 in the 60m-hurdles (10.38) while Langston Henry (New York, N.Y./Grace Church School) sits 11th in the 200m dash (24.71) and Kai Miller (Harlem, N.Y.) is 14th in the event (26.42).
After playing seven games for the Gophers men's basketball team, Devon Esslinger (Las Cruces, N.M./Las Cruces) will enter the 60m hurdles and the triple jump with no seed marks. The men will also field a 4x400m relay team.
