Goucher Produces Winner, Runner-Up in 5,000 Meters
GETTYSBURG, Pa. — Goucher runners finished 1-2 in the 5,000 meters at today's Mason-Dixon Invitational, with both completing the event in under 20 minutes.
Couraud Establishes 5:40.15 as Outdoor School Record in Mile
GETTYSBURG, Pa. — Goucher runners finished 1-2 in the 5,000 meters at today's Mason-Dixon Invitational, with both completing the event in under 20 minutes.
Hadley Couraud (East Lansing, Mich./East Lansing) was the first to cross the finish line, doing it in 19:44.57. Sarah Pardus (Stratham, N.H./Exeter) was the runner-up in the field of five runners, posting a time of 19:51.85.
That was the only first-place performance for the Gophers at the meet, but they also produced the runner-up in the 400-meter dash where Jaclyn Kellon (Cleveland Heights, Ohio/St. Peter Chanel) was clocked at 1:01.10.
Katelynn Zidanic (York, Pa./Central York) placed fourth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (12:22.26).
Abby Cooney (Holden, Mass./Wachusett Regional) earned nine points for the Gophers in two events: five points for her fourth-place finish in the discus (80'10") and four for placing fifth in the shot put (34'3").
Taylor Burr (Addison, Maine/Maranacook Community) placed fifth in the 800-meter run (2:30.11) and Dana Macaluso (Huntington, N.Y./Huntington) was sixth in the 200-meter dash (:27.80).
In addition to winning the 5,000 meters, Couraud established an outdoor school record in the mile run with her time of 5:40.15, which was good for seventh place.
The Gophers finished in seventh place with a team score of 44 points.
