Phillips Proves Best in Both Hurdles, Two Additional Events
HUNTINGDON, Pa. — Destiny Phillips (Washington, D.C./Dunbar) placed first in four individual events and also ran a leg on Goucher's entry that was the first to cross the finish line in the 4 x 100-meter relay at the Juniata Invitational, which was conducted today.
Currier, Zidanic Fill Top Two Spots in 5,000-Meter Run
HUNTINGDON, Pa. — Destiny Phillips (Washington, D.C./Dunbar) placed first in four individual events and also ran a leg on Goucher's entry that was the first to cross the finish line in the 4 x 100-meter relay at the Juniata Invitational, which was conducted today.
The events in which the freshman was the top performer, along with her winning times/distances: 100-meter dash, :13.21; 100-meter hurdles, :15.87; 400-meter hurdles, 1:06.42, and long jump, 16'5 3/4".
In the 4 x 100-meter relay, the foursome of Jaclyn Kellon (Cleveland Heights, Ohio/St. Peter Chanel), Caitlin Biggers (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y./Lakeland), Kenzie Weber (Lake George, N.Y./Lake George) and Phillips finished in 52.59 seconds, good for first place.
Katherine Currier (Brooklyn, N.Y./LaGuardia) and Katelynn Zidanic (York, Pa./Central York) placed 1-2 in the 5,000-meter run as Currier recorded a time of 19:02.31 and Zidanic followed in 19:34.48.
Kellon also was runner-up to Phillips in the 400-meter hurdles with her time of 1:06.51.
The only third-place finish for Goucher was by Kathryn Walker (Plymouth Meeting, Pa./Plymouth Whitemarsh) in the 1,500-meter run (5:21.81).
As a team, the Gophers earned 120 points, which put them in third place behind Juniata (201 points) and Susquehanna (155) in the final team standings.
