First-Year Student-Athletes Continue to Impress at Battleground Relays
The first-year throwers on the Goucher College women’s track & field team performed at a high capacity at the Battleground Relays in Fredericksburg, VA Saturday afternoon.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA – The first-year throwers on the Goucher College women's track & field team performed at a high capacity at the Battleground Relays in Fredericksburg, VA Saturday afternoon.
First-year Natalie Kent (Media, PA) continued on her quest to dominate the Goucher record books. She surpassed her own record she set in Towson, MD last week in the discus throw with a distance of 36.87m. She went on to finish 3rd in the event.
Goucher Top Performers:
- In addition to setting the new school record, Kent finished sixth in the shot put with a throw of 10.58m.
- Fellow first-year thrower, Taylor Gunter (Laurel, MD) set a new personal-best in the discus throw with a distance of 30.62m. She also performed well in the shot put with a distance of 10.15m and finished 9th overall in the event.
- First-year Gabby Blazek (New Orleans, LA) placed third in the pole vault with a height of 2.44 meters.
- Senior Laura Williams (Verona, NJ) took 4th place in the 100m dash with a time of 17.88 seconds.
- First-year Victoria Wheeler (Kinnelon, NJ) finished right behind Williams with a time of 20.56 seconds in the 100m dash.
- Junior Katie Thomson (Littlestown, PA) shattered her personal-best in the javelin throw with a distance of 25.78m. Her previous best was 24.50m.
- First-year Shalom Omo-Osagie (Baltimore, MD) placed 6th in the high jump with a height of 1.38m during her track & field debut.
