Gophers Sit in Third Place Follow the First Day of the Landmark Conference T&F Champs

BETHLEHEM, Pa – The Goucher College women's track & field team currently sits in third place at the Landmark Conference Track & Field Championships being held at Moravian College.
Five separate Gophers scored on day one of the Landmark T&F Championships, including two first-years, two seniors and one sophomore. As a team, Goucher broke nine personal bests on the day over multiple events and currently holds 22 points in the meet.
How It Happened:
- Sophomore Lexi Stewart (Laurel, Md.) highlighted Goucher's day-one events, earning All-Landmark Conference Second Team honors in the long jump with a distance of 5.25m – a personal best, which ranks fourth-best in Goucher history. Only Destiny Phillips has jumped further than Stewart while wearing the Blue & Gold.
- First-year Natalie Kent (Media, Pa.) took third in the discus throw with a distance of 34.35m, earning the Gophers six points in the event.
- Fellow first-year Taylor Gunter (Laurel, Md.) had a breakout day with two personal bests in the discus throw (31.33m) and hammer throw (34.40). Her performance in the discus earned Goucher three points. Her previous personal best in the hammer throw was 31.42m, 2.98m shorter than her chuck today.
- Senior Becca Kotula (Fallston, Md.) rounded out the Gopher scoring on the day with a sixth-place finish in the pole vault with a jump of 2.38m.
- Stewart took first place and second place in the prelims for the 200m (26.30) and 100m (12.89) dashes, respectively. Both are personal bests for the sprinter.
- Senior Laura Williams (Verona, N.J.) had a PR in the long jump (4.79m), earning seventh in the event, snagging two points for the Gophers. She also made her way into the 100mH finals heat to be held on Sunday with a fifth-place finish (16.67).
- First-year Anna Gallina (Whitehall, Pa.) shattered her PR in the 200m dash with a time of 26.98, earning a fifth place finish and opportunity to run on Sunday in the finals heat.
- Junior Katie Thompson (Littlestown, Pa.) and first-year Shalom Omo-Osagie (Baltimore, Md.) also set personal records on the day.
