Women’s Track & Field in Fifth After Opening Day of 2018 Landmark Conference Championships
ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. - The Goucher College women’s track & field team finds themselves in fifth place overall after the opening day of the 2018 Landmark Conference Outdoor Championships, which are being held at Elizabethtown College.

On the day, sophomores Taylor Gunter (Laurel, Md.) and Natalie Kent (Media, Pa.) had the highest finishes on the day for Goucher.
Gunter was the first to have a high finish, as she placed third in the shot put with a toss of 38 feet, 7.75 inches. The toss was a personal best for Gunter, as it was also the fifth-best effort in the shot put in program history.
Kent, meanwhile, had high finishes in a pair of events. Her highest came in the discus, where a toss of 111 feet, 11 inches put her in third place overall. She also finished fourth in the shot put just behind Gunter, registering a 37 foot, 8.5-inch effort.
Elsewhere on the day, sophomore Anna Gallina (Whitehall, Pa.) qualified for tomorrow's 100-meter dash finals with a fourth place finish in the prelims (13.01), and the 200-meters with a sixth place finish (27.16). Meanwhile, in the pole vault, sophomore Gabby Blazek (New Orleans, La.) was fifth with an eight foot, 11.25-inch effort, while first-year Mikayla Hinnant (Waldorf, Md.) was eighth in the discus (95 feet, nine inches).
For the men on the day, Goucher was led by first-year Devon Esslinger (Las Cruces, N.M.), who qualified for tomorrow's finals in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.60, which was a personal best. Fellow first-year Brian Sullivan (Lake Forest, Ill.) also qualified for tomorrow's 100-meter dash after finishing eighth in 11.70.
In men's field events, sophomore Darby Bauer (Perkiomenville, Pa.) had the teams highest finish, placing ninth in the hammer throw with a toss of 127 feet, three inches.
