Taylor Gunter Named Landmark Conference Field Athlete Of The Week
BALTIMORE, Md. – Taylor Gunter (Laurel, Md./Sandy Spring Friends School), a member of the Goucher College track and field team, has been named the Landmark Conference Women's Field Player of the Week for week of April 25-31. It is the second time she has earned the honor and the first time for the outdoor season
Gunter had herself a day in the throws at the Jim Taylor Invitational on Saturday, placing ninth overall (fifth among DIII athletes) in the shot put with a hurl of 11.14m, 11th in the discus (fifth among Division III athletes) with a chuck of 35.87m and 12th in the hammer (sixth among DIII athletes) with a toss of 40.37m. Her throw in the discus was a personal best and ranks third in program history while she will have the top throws in the outdoor season for the shot put and discus and second best in the hammer.
Gunter is having one of the best years of her career. In the indoor seasons, she won the shot put to earn All-Landmark Conference first team honors and finished second in the weight throw to garner an All-Landmark Conference second-team selection.
Gunter earned the Landmark Conference Field Athlete of the Week during the indoor season for the week of February 5-11, 2018.
Goucher returns to action at the Battlefield Relays at Mary Washington on Friday and Saturday.
