Back-To-Back Landmark Conference Field Athlete Of The Week Awards For Taylor Gunter
BALTIMORE, Md. – Taylor Gunter (Laurel, Md./Sandy Spring Friends School), a member of the Goucher College track and field team, has been named the Landmark Conference Women's Field Player of the Week for week of April 1-7. It is the second-straight week she has earned the honor and the third time of her career.
Gunter set a new program standard in the discus with a hurl of 37.66. The junior bested Natalie Kent's 37.31m mark that she tossed at the Messiah Invitational on April 8, 2017. She also won the shot put with a throw of 11.49m. She placed fourth in the hammer with a toss of 36.38m on Friday. Both of her throws on Saturday were better than the two at the Jim Taylor Invitational last week and she now ranks third in the Mideast Regional in the discus while holding the top marks in the shot put and discus in the circuit and second In the hammer.
Gunter is having one of the best years of her career. In the indoor seasons, she won the shot put to earn All-Landmark Conference first team honors and finished second in the weight throw to garner an All-Landmark Conference second-team selection.
Along with the last two weeks, Gunter earned the Landmark Conference Field Athlete of the Week during the indoor season for the week of February 5-11, 2018.
Gunter and the rest of the throwers will head to the Johns Hopkins/Loyola Invitational on Friday while the rest of the team heads to the Messiah Invitational.
