Brogan, Esslinger And Hinnant Each Win Events For Goucher Track And Field At Gallaudet University Invitational
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Hannah Brogan (Chatham, N.J./Chatham), Devon Esslinger (Las Cruces, N.M./Las Cruces) and Mikayla Hinnant (Waldorf, Md./Westlake) each won an event at the Gallaudet University Invitational to pace the Goucher College track and field team on Saturday.
Brogan won the 3000m with a time of 12:51.36 while Esslinger won the triple jump with a leap of 12.42m and Hinnant took first in the discus with her fifth toss of 33.45m.
Brogan also finished fifth in the 1500m (5:56.69) and Hinnant placed third in the hammer (28.93m). Esslinger was sixth in the 110m hurdles (19.27) and seventh in the 200m (25.08).
Sydney Smith (Falls Church, Va./George Mason HS) placed second in the 100m (13.68) and third in the 200m (28.65) while Anna Gallina (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall) was second in the 400m (1:04.89) and fourth in the 200m (28.74).
Victoria Wheeler (Kinnelon, N.J./Kinnelon) finished third in the 400m hurdles (1:33.69) while Charlotte Birnbaum (Princeton, N.J./West Windsor Plainsboro) was fifth in the long jump (3.79m) and eighth in the 100m (16.32) and Jennifer Alves (Rockville, Md./Richard Montgomery) placed sixth in the 400m (1:09.81).
Brandon Julot (Baltimore, Md./The SEED School of Maryland) finished third in the shot put (11.93m) with an outdoor personal best, seventh in the hammer (29.76m) and 12th in the discus (29.63m). Darby Bauer (Perkiomenville, Pa./Boyertown Area) finished fourth in the hammer (41.55m), fifth in the discus (35.83m) and fifth in the javelin (36.76m). Joel Gladney (Perry Hall, Md./Perry Hall) placed eighth in the discus (33.27m).
Matthew Knudson (Washington, D.C./E.L. Haynes) finished fifth in both the 1500m (5:26.65) and the 800m (2:41.49) while Kai Miller (Harlem, N.Y.) placed fifth in the 400m (56.76) and ninth in the 200m (25.76). Miles (Mia) Taylor (Bowie, Md./Wakefield) was fifth in the 110m hurdles (19.13), 11th in the 100m (12.80) and 11th in the 200m (27.66)
Goucher returns to action when the squad hosts the Landmark Conference Track & Field Outdoor Championships at the Gophers Stadium on May 4-5.
