BALTIMORE, Md. - Goucher bounced back from a pair of losses on the opening day of the ASICS/Johns Hopkins Invitational to defeat Mt. Aloysius, 3-0, and Massachusetts-Boston, 3-1, today.
Claire Sauvage-Mar (New Dehl, India/American Embassy School) and Catie Ditmore (Santa Barbara, CA/Laguna Blanca) combined for 35 assists in the Gophers' 30-24, 30-21, 30-25 triumph over Mt. Aloysius. Kasey Quinn (Ellicott City, MD/Centennial) contributed a team-high 11 kills to the three-game victory.
Quinn was credited with 12 kills in the four-game match against Massachusetts-Boston, but she wasn't Goucher's leader in that category. Megan Smith (Honolulu, HI/Long Beach Polytechnic) supplied the Gophers (2-2) with 16 kills, 10 digs, one block and a service ace in their 30-21, 23-30, 30-27, 30-22 win over the Beacons.
The Gophers served 33 aces in today's two matches. Quinn was the leader with a total of seven.
For her performance during the four matches the Gophers played, Smith was named to the all-tournament team.
