Preseason Poll: Goucher to Finish Fourth in Landmark Conference
August 26, 2008
MADISON, N.J. — If the head coaches and sports information directors in the Landmark Conference are correct, Goucher is going to earn a spot in the conference's postseason volleyball tournament in 2008.
In a preseason poll in which head coaches and SIDs at each institution that sponsors volleyball were invited to participate, head coach Michael Bossom's Gophers were picked to finish fourth behind Juniata, Catholic and Scranton in the Landmark Conference. Moravian finished fifth in the poll, which was released today, ahead of Susquehanna and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.
The top six teams, based on how they finish during the regular season, advance to the conference's postseason tournament.
Juniata, which reached the semifinals of the 2007 NCAA Division III Championship, captured the inaugural Landmark Conference title a year ago.
The Gophers launch their 2008 campaign this Friday at the ASICS Invitational, playing Johns Hopkins and Geneva on the opening day of the two-day event.
