ARLINGTON, Va. – Goucher extended its winning streak to six
matches and assured itself of finishing the season at no worse than
.500 by prevailing in a five-set match against Marymount this
evening.
Set scores were 25-22, 19-25, 20-25, 25-16, 16-14.
Megan Smith (Honolulu, Hawaii/Long Beach
Polytechnic) and Catie Ditmore (Santa Barbara,
Calif./Laguna Blanca) both reached double figures in kills
and digs in the victory. Smith supplied the Gophers (16-14) with 19
kills and 22 digs; Ditmore recorded 12 kills and 18 digs.
Claire Sauvage-Mar (New Delhi, India/American Embassy
School) was credited with an assist on 44 of Goucher's 48
kills and she matched Smith's 22 digs.
In improving to 4-3 in five-set matches this season, the Gophers
overcame a 13-11 deficit in the decisive fifth set against the
Saints (7-17).
With the win, Goucher's record in its past 15 matches against
non-conference opponents stands at 14-1.
