MADISON, N.J. – Megan Smith (Honolulu, Hawaii/Long Beach Polytechnic), Goucher's all-time leader in kills, is a second-team selection on the 2008 All-Landmark Conference Volleyball Team, which was revealed today.
It's the second year in a row that the seven head coaches in the conference have voted Smith onto the All-Landmark second team as an outside hitter. She is the first volleyball player from Goucher to earn all-conference honors in consecutive years since Shannon Towner was recognized as an All-Capital Athletic Conference first-team performer in 1997 and 1998.
The junior outside hitter was the only player in the Landmark Conference to average more than four kills per set in 2008. She led the Gophers in kills (319) and attack percentage (.187), plus she also recorded 311 digs, 17 blocks and 23 service aces.
During the 2008 season, Smith passed Karen Levi (1992-95) as the all-time leader in kills at Goucher. Levi was credited with 1,123 kills during her career with the Gophers, while Smith's total after three seasons stands at 1,146.
