Gophers Rally in Third Set, Finish Job in Fourth
TOWSON, Md. – Goucher came back from being a set down to earn a 3-1 victory over Washington (Md.) tonight and extend its winning streak against non-conference opponents in the Sports & Recreation Center to 17 matches.

winning streak against non-conference opponents in the Sports &
Recreation Center to 17 matches.
Set scores were 22-25, 25-18, 25-22, 25-16.
After the two teams split the first two sets, the Shorewomen (7-5) were on the verge of going up 2-1 as they opened up a 22-18 lead in the third set. But the Gophers (7-4) were able to regain the serve and reel off seven unanswered points with Rebecca Schaefer (River Edge, N.J./River Dell) serving. The junior outside hitter/defensive specialist capped the set-clinching run with a service ace.
At one point in the fourth set, the Gophers enjoyed a 16-6 lead.
Goucher's attack featured 21 kills by senior outside hitter Megan Smith (Honolulu, Hawaii/Long Beach Polytechnic) and seven kills and a .294 hitting percentage out of senior middle hitter Carolyn Crissey (Philadelphia, Pa./Creative & Performing Arts). Schaefer led the Gophers in digs (21).
