Smith Totals 20 Kills in Three Weekend Matches

three difficult matches –and that's exactly what they turned
out to be.
The Gophers were beaten by Salisbury, 3-0, and Virginia Wesleyan, 3-0, on Friday, and then today they suffered a 3-0 loss to Johns Hopkins.
For the first time all season, the Gophers finished with a negative hitting percentage in their 25-11, 25-14, 25-12 loss to the Sea Gulls (14-1). With only 19 kills and 24 errors in a total of 92 chances, the team's attack percentage calculated to -.054.
But it was even lower (-.096) in the 25-18, 25-12, 25-17 loss to the Marlins (12-2) that followed on Friday. In that match, the Gophers were credited with 17 kills and charged with 26 errors in 94 chances.
Today's match was Goucher's second of the season against the Blue Jays, who came out on top 25-20, 25-11, 25-19.
Megan Smith (Honolulu, Hawaii/Long Beach Polytechnic), who was ranked 13th in the nation among Division III players in kills per set with her 4.33 average as of Sept. 20, supplied the Gophers (7-7) with a total of 20 kills in the three matches.
