Gophers Take Down Mustangs, Improve to 12-9

three sets that Goucher won tonight in its 3-1 triumph over
Stevenson.
Set scores were 25-19, 25-23, 20-25, 25-21.
Quinn was credited with three kills in the opening set, including the one at set point. Her fourth kill of the second set gave the Gophers (12-9) their 25th point and a 2-0 overall lead in the match.
The Mustangs (10-12) overcame a 7-0 deficit in the third game, going ahead for the first time on a service ace by Avery Gabbard that made the score 15-14.
Quinn's 10th kill of the match snapped an 18-18 tie in the fourth set and put head coach Michael Bossom's Gophers ahead to stay. At match point, the junior outside hitter served an ace.
Megan Smith (Honolulu, Hawaii/Long Beach Polytechnic) contributed team-high totals of 19 kills and 19 digs to the victory and Claire Sauvage-Mar (New Delhi, India/American Embassy School) picked up 38 assists.
The Gophers also defeated the Mustangs, 3-1 (25-21, 21-25, 25-21, 25-19), back on September 10, making this the first time since 2006 that they've beaten their in-state rival twice in the same season.
