Landmark Reveals All-Academic Team for Fall 2009
MADISON, N.J. — The Landmark Conference today announced the names of the 32 student-athletes who make up the 2009 Fall Landmark All-Academic Team, which recognizes two male and two female athletes who have excelled athletically and academically from each of the eight Landmark institutions.

names of the 32 student-athletes who make up the 2009 Fall Landmark
All-Academic Team, which recognizes two male and two female
athletes who have excelled athletically and academically from each
of the eight Landmark institutions.
Goucher's four representatives on the third annual Fall Landmark
All-Academic Team are senior forward Julien Greco
(Shutesbury, Mass./St. George's School) and senior
midfielder Galen Guindon (Wallingford, Pa./Friends
Central) from the men's soccer team, Micki
Manheimer (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth), a sophomore goalie
on the field hockey team, and Megan Smith (Honolulu,
Hawaii/Long Beach Polytechnic), a senior outside hitter on
the volleyball team.
Each school selected its four nominees, all of whom had to compete in any of the six sports for which the Landmark Conference conducts a championship in the fall. In addition, the nominees had to be a sophomore, junior or senior with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Greco, an international relations major with a 3.78 cumulative GPA, was also on the Fall Landmark All-Academic Team in 2007 and again in 2008. He was a second-team selection on the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District II College Division Men's Soccer Team chosen in 2007 and 2009 by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America; in 2008, he was a honorable mention on the National Soccer Coaches Association of America/adidasCollege Men Scholar All-East Region Team.
Guindon was the 2008-09 recipient of Goucher's Scholar-Ahlete Award which goes to a member of the junior class who has maintained high standards of academic achievement and consistently demonstrated varied and admirable participation in athletics and extracurricular activities. He was a second-team All-Landmark Conference midfielder as a sophomore in 2007 and again as a senior, he is on the Fall Landmark All-Academic Team for the second year in a row and he was an honorable mention on the 2008 National Soccer Coaches Association of America/adidasCollege Men Scholar All-East Region Team. He is majoring in music with concentrations in performance and history, carries a 3.67 cumulative GPA and is a three-time recipient of the annual Rosenberg Music Scholarship for Performance.
Manheimer was the starting goalie for the Gophers in 16 games in 2009, and finished the season with a 2.29 goals against average and a .710 save percentage. She ranked third in the Landmark Conference in saves at 5.18 per game. She is a communication major with a 3.92 cumulative GPA.
Smith, the all-time leader in kills (1.563) in the history of Goucher's volleyball program, she also holds the school record for kills in a season (424) and a match (35). She was a second-team All-Landmark Conference outside hitter in 2007, 2008 and 2009, making her only the third Goucher volleyball player to earn all-conference honors three times during her career. A biology major carrying a 3.62 cumulative GPA, she also was on the Fall Landmark All-Academic Team in 2007 and 2008.
