TOWSON, Md. — Megan Chalk (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) knocked down at least 14 kills in all four matches and was Goucher's representative on the all-tournament team selected for this weekend's Goucher Invitational.
The junior outside hitter had 10 digs and a pair of blocks to go along with her team-high 16 kills in the Gophers' first match on Friday, a 3-1 setback to Bridgewater. Later in the day, she came up with 18 kills in a 3-1 victory over City (N.Y.).
Goucher concluded the tournament with matches against Frostburg St. and McDaniel today, and Chalk finished with 16 kills and 18 digs against the Bobcats, who defeated the Gophers, 3-2, and 14 kills against the Green Terror.
Chalk's totals for the four matches this weekend: 64 kills and 43 digs. For the season, she is averaging 3.18 kills and 2.78 digs per set.
In the 25-14, 20-25, 25-11, 25-15 loss to the Eagles (8-10), the Gophers were guilty of 32 hitting errors and managed only a .007 attack percentage. They boosted their hitting up to .150 when they faced the Beavers (5-11) and came out on top 25-19, 24-26, 25-14, 25-17.
Freshman setter Sarah Johnson (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood) contributed 47 assists — one below her career-high total — to the win over City.

Sami Kennelly (Howell, N.J./Howell) and Sabina Smajlovic (Hartford, Conn./Miss Porter's School) supplied the Gophers with 11 and 10 kills, respectively, and Ashley Fan (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) added 24 digs.
In their final match of the tournament, the Gophers (7-17) turned back McDaniel, 3-0 (25-22, 25-17, 25-22), avenging a 25-15, 25-22, 25-20 loss to the Green Terror (5-16) back on Sept. 15. Goucher committed only one hitting error in the second set and finished with its second-highest attack percentage (.248) for any match so far this season.
