Gophers Play Season's Final Two Landmark Matches
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Goucher played its final two Landmark Conference matches of the season today. The first was against Moravian, which kept its playoff chances alive by downing the Gophers, 3-0 (27-25, 25-12, 25-14), and then head coach Kelli Wilkinson's squad went up against Elizabethtown, which prevailed 3-0 (25-22, 25-19, 25-22).

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Goucher played its final two Landmark Conference matches of the season today. The first was against Moravian, which kept its playoff chances alive by downing the Gophers, 3-0 (27-25, 25-12, 25-14), and then head coach Kelli Wilkinson's squad went up against Elizabethtown, which prevailed 3-0 (25-22, 25-19, 25-22).
The Gophers, who earned only 25 points off of kills, managed only an .081 attack percentage in the Moravian match. Conversely, the Greyhounds (13-13, 3-3 Landmark) recorded a total of 45 kills and a .310 attack percentage in the three-set match.
Between them, the two teams in the second match were guilty of 36 hitting errors, but the Gophers (9-17, 0-7 Landmark) also committed 11 service errors and 10 reception errors.
Michelle Tweedie (Accra, Ghana/Lincoln Community School) led all players in kills by knocking down 10 of them. Kelly Budge (Harrington Park, N.J./Northern Valley Old Tappan) was credited with nine kills, 10 digs and two service aces.
For the Blue Jays (14-11, 2-5 Landmark), Megan McNaul finished with eight kills.
A pair of non-conference matches against Misericordia (1 p.m.) and Arcadia (3 p.m.) await the Gophers one week from today in Dallas, Pa.
