Volleyball Takes 3-0 Defeat at Hand of Cabrini

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- The Goucher College volleyball team (0-1, Landmark 0-0) fell in three sets to Cabrini in the Virginia Wesleyan season opening tournament on Friday evening.
The Gophers dropped the first set 25-18, the second 25-15 and the third 25-11.
Sophomore Sarah Weeden (Monmouth Junction, N.J.) led Goucher with nine total kills in the match. She was followed by first-years Greta Coss (Bowie, Md.) and Emily Sorrells (Annapolis, Md.) with seven and six kills, respectively. Katie Hessenius (Aldie, Va.) led the team with 13 digs. She was closely followed by sophomore Olivia Rhodes with 11 digs. She also led the team with 13 assists.
The Gophers ended the match with 30 total kills, 22 assists, 42 digs and six service aces.
Goucher is active again Saturday, September 2 against St. Catherine at 12 p.m. and Virginia Wesleyan at 4 p.m. in Virginia Beach.
