Goucher Drops Two at McDaniel on Saturday
First-year Greta Coss (Bowie, Md.) and sophomore Sarah Weeden (Monmouth Junction, N.J.) led the Gophers in kills through two losses against St. Mary’s (Md.) and McDaniel, 3-1 and 3-0, respectively.

WESTMINSTER, Md. – First-year Greta Coss (Bowie, Md.) and sophomore Sarah Weeden (Monmouth Junction, N.J.) led the Gophers in kills through two losses against St. Mary's (Md.) and McDaniel, 3-1 and 3-0, respectively.
Coss finished the day with a total 23 kills in two matches while Weeden followed with 17. Coss also paced the team in digs during the two matches (22), while fellow first-year Katie Hessenius (Aldie, Va.) was close behind with 21.
St. Mary's (Md.)
The Gophers opened the day against St. Mary's, battling close in each set. The Seahawks took the lead out of the gate with a 25-23 win. However, Goucher answered back with a 25-23 win in the second set. Despite the Gophers taking the momentum, St. Mary's pulled away with 25-20 wins in the final two sets.
First-year Bianca Brown (North Brunswick, N.J.) was a menace on the floor with two solo blocks and a block assist in the match – a career-high.
McDaniel
The Gophers were defeated by the Green Terror in three sets during the 12 p.m. matchup on Saturday. McDaniel dominated in the first set, 25-10 and took the next sets 25-22 and 25-18.
Coss led the team in the second match with 12 digs while sophomore Virginia Estes (Homewood, Ala.) aided with 11 digs. Bianca Brown once again terrorized the opposing team with three solo blocks and a block assist.
Weeden led the team with three service aces in the match. The Green Terror had nine different players with at least one kill.
The Gophers are back in action on Wednesday when they play host to Gwynedd Mercy at 7 p.m. in the Decker Sports and Recreation Center.
