The Goucher College volleyball (3-12, LC 0-2) team opened Landmark Conference play with two 0-3 losses to Susquehanna and Scranton on the road in the first Landmark Conference tri-match of the year.

SCRANTON, Pa. – The Goucher College volleyball (3-11, LC 0-1) team opened Landmark Conference play with a 0-3 loss to Susquehanna on the road in the first Landmark Conference tri-match of the year.
Susquehanna
The Gophers fell 17-25, 17-25, 18-25 to the Riverhawks.
Goucher was led by first-year Greta Coss (Bowie, Md.) with nine kills in the match. Both Sarah Weeden (Monmouth Junction, N.J.) and Simone Brown (Pelham, N.Y.) had six kills for the Gophers.
Coss also led Goucher with three service aces, accounting for 12 total points in three sets.
Weeden and Coss also paced the Gophers on defense with eight digs each. Sophomore Virginia Estes (Homewood, Ala.) added four digs in the match.
Sophomore Olivia Rhodes (St. Charles, Mizz.) notched 24 assists for the Gophers.
The Riverhawks leaned on Morgan Lowe to convert points as she wrapped up the match with 14 kills. Helen Forman collected 26 assists while Caroline Beohm notched 11 digs to lead the team.
Scranton
Goucher lost 10-25, 17-25, 13-25.
Weeden led the team in the second match of the day with 11 kills. Coss added nine kills for the Gophers. Simone Brown chipped in with four to total 10 on the day.
Estes led the team with eight digs in the second match while Coss and Weeden notched five and four digs, respectively. The Royals were led on defense by Regina Schetroma and Kindley Norman.
Rhodes surpassed her mark earlier in the day with 25 assists against Scranton. She totaled 49 in the two matches during the day. Simone Brown also added an assist.
The Gophers ended the match with a .130 hitting percentage compared to Scranton's .533 hitting percentage.
Goucher returns to play on October 11th when they take on Wesley College on the road at 6 p.m.
