Chargers Take Match over Goucher, 3-0
Goucher College volleyball (4-15, Landmark 0-4) took on Lancaster Bible on Wednesday night and lost 3-0 to the Chargers.
TOWSON, Md. - Goucher College volleyball (4-15, Landmark 0-4) took on Lancaster Bible Wednesday evening and lost 3-0 to the Chargers.
Set 1:
Lancaster Bible jumped out to a 11-1 lead in the first set as the Gophers struggled early with some trouble serving. The Chargers continued to move ahead by 18-3 and finally 25-4 to take the set as Goucher continued to have trouble finding rhythm in serving and passing.
Set 2:
The Gophers looked like a different team as they came out strong, tying the score at 6-6, 9-9, 10-10 and 11-11 before going ahead 13-11 and 15-14. Lancaster Bible had a switch in momentum to take the lead at the 17-16 mark and expanded it to 20-17, finally winning the set 25-20, leading the match 2-1.
Set 3:
Lancaster Bible established control of the third set early getting out to a 12-8 lead, but the Gophers fought back with a long point to get within two points at 13-11. Both teams traded points and battled back and forth to an 18-18 tie, at which point the Chargers gained a two point lead at 20-18, extended it to 24-21, and then won the set 25-21 to take the match 3-0.
Leading the way for Goucher was Greta Coss (Bowie, Md.) with eight kills and Simone Brown (Pelham, N.Y.) with seven. Brown led the team in digs with 11.
The Gophers are back in action on Saturday October 21 away at St. Mary's (MD) at 1pm.
