No. 18 John’s Hopkins Sweeps Goucher in Season Opener, 3-0
Towson, Md. - No. 18 John’s Hopkins defeated the Goucher College volleyball team in their season opener on Friday evening at the Decker SRC Arena, 3-0 (25-7, 25-11, 25-17).

Sophomore Greta Coss (Bowie, Md.) led Goucher in the defeat with a total of 6 kills (2 in the second set and 4 in the third set). Junior Virginia Estes (Homewood, Ala.) led the team in digs, totalling 6 across the match. Sophomore Bianca Brown (North Brunswick, N.J.) had two blocks, one solo and one assist with freshman Tes DeJaeger (Norwalk, Conn.). DeJaeger also led the team in assists, racking up 6 in her first appearance with Gophers.
Scoring a total of 35 points across three sets, Goucher managed 7 points in set one, never achieving a tie or a lead change. Set two saw the Gophers with 11 points and leading off with the first two kills. Set three was the best for Goucher today, totalling 17 points. During set three the Gophers had 3 ties and led by 1 point on two separate occasions.
The Goucher College Gophers will play again tomorrow in the Haverford Tournament. The Gophers will take on Wheaton (Mass.) at 11 AM and Bard at 3 PM.
