Volleyball Falls to E-Town, Scranton in Landmark Conference Opener
SCRANTON, Pa. - The Goucher College volleyball team opened Landmark Conference play for the year on Saturday, as the Gophers fell, 3-1, to Elizabethtown and 3-0 to host Scranton.

SCRANTON, Pa. - The Goucher College volleyball team opened Landmark Conference play for the year on Saturday, as the Gophers fell, 3-1, to Elizabethtown and, 3-0, to host Scranton.
With the losses, Goucher fell to 7-10 overall and 0-2 in the Landmark Conference.
The day started off well for the Gophers on Saturday, as they opened their match with Elizabethtown with a 25-21 win in the opening set. But, the Blue Jays roared back over the final three sets, taking them over Goucher by scores of 25-18, 25-15, and 25-15.
In the loss for the Gophers, sophomore Greta Coss (Bowie, Md.) led the attack again in a match, finishing with 15 kills and 12 digs for a double-double.
Meanwhile, first-year Kaya Melchor (Mililani, Hawaii) ended the game with 11 kills and nine digs, and first-year setter Tes DeJaeger (Norwalk, Conn.) ended with 42 assists and 16 digs. Rounding out the leaders for Goucher in the E-Town match was first-year Cat Hartley (Colorado Springs, Colo.), who ended the match with 10 digs.
Against Scranton, the Gophers fell in straight sets to the host Royals, falling by scores of 25-22, 25-19, and 25-21.
In the defeat, Coss still had a big match on the attack, finishing with 14 kills. DeJaeger posted 23 assists, while on defense, Hartley ended the match with 14 digs.
The Goucher College volleyball team returns to action on Wednesday, as they travel to Juniata for another Landmark Conference road match. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
