Volleyball Knocks Off Lehman, Falls to Eastern Mennonite Saturday
The Goucher College volleyball team continued their winning ways to kick off their day on Saturday, as the Gophers got past visiting Lehman in a shutout, 3-0 win. Goucher, however, fell in their second match of the day to Eastern Mennonite, 3-1.

The Goucher College volleyball team continued their winning ways to kick off their day on Saturday, as the Gophers got past visiting Lehman in a shutout, 3-0 win. Goucher, however, fell in their second match of the day to Eastern Mennonite, 3-1.
With the split, the Gophers are now 9-12 overall for the year.
Goucher 3, Lehman 0 (25-11, 25-16, 25-11)
In the first match of the day against Lehman, the Gophers coasted, taking their sixth three-set victory of the year over the visiting Lighting.
Overall for the Gophers in the victory, sophomore Greta Coss (Bowie, Md.) led the attack, finishing with 10 kills to go along with eight digs, also a team-high. First-year Kaya Melchor (Milani, Hawaii) had six kills, while first-year setter Tes DeJager (Norwalk, Conn.) went into double-figures yet again in the assist category with 23 in the victory.
Eastern Mennonite 3, Goucher 1 (22-25, 25-21, 25-22, 25-21)
In the nightcap against Eastern Mennonite, Goucher got off to a fast start, taking a 25-22 win in the first set. The visiting Royals, however, rallied back, taking the final three sets by slim margins to take a 3-1 victory over the Gophers.
Overall for Goucher in the defeat, Coss had another big game on the attack, finishing with 18 kills. Melchor chipped in with 15 kills, as DeJager finished the contest with 42 assists.
On the defensive end, both Coss and first-year Cat Hartley (Colorado Springs, Colo.) ended the game with 21 digs, apiece, while fellow first-year Nelisabel La Court Ruiz (York, Pa.) finished with 17 digs.
The Goucher College volleyball team returns to action on Thursday, as they travel to Gallaudet for another non-conference match. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
