Volleyball Ends Season with Pair of Landmark Losses to Susquehanna, Moravian

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Playing their final games of the 2018 season, the Goucher College volleyball team fell to Susquehanna (3-0) and host Moravian (3-2) on Saturday in Landmark Conference play.
With the losses, the Gophers end their 2018 season with a 13-16 overall mark, 0-6 in the Landmark Conference. The 13 victories are the most for a Goucher team since the 2009 season when Goucher won 17 matches.
On the day Saturday, Goucher first lost in three sets to Susquehanna (25-18, 25-17, 25-19). In the defeat, first-year Kaya Melchor (Milani, Hawaii) ended with eight kills, while sophomore Greta Coss (Bowie, Md.) had seven kills to go along with nine digs.
Setting up the attack in the Susquehanna game was first-year Tes DeJaeger (Norwalk, Conn.), who ended with 23 assists. Meanwhile, first-year libero Cat Hartley (Colorado Springs, Colo.) led the defense with 19 digs.
In the nightcap against Moravian. Goucher got up 2-1 in the match, only to have the host Greyhounds battle back to take in the fourth and fifth sets to win the match, 3-2 (15-25, 25-23, 25-21, 15-25, 14-16).
On the night for Goucher, Melchor and Coss ended their great seasons on the attack with 14 kills, apiece, to lead the Gophers.
DeJaeger finished off an outstanding first-year campaign as the primary setter with 45 assists, in the loss, while Coss ended with a double-double, leading the defense with 16 digs. DeJaeger had 14 digs, while Harley ended her season with 13 digs for the Gopher defense.
