TOWSON, Md. - The Goucher College women's volleyball team dropped both ends of a Landmark Conference quad-match it hosted Saturday at the Decker Sports and Recreation Center. The Gophers were dealt a 3-1 setback by Moravian University in the opener, then fell 3-0 to the University of Scranton in the nightcap.
- Set scores against Moravian (8-9, 1-0 Landmark) were 22-25, 25-14, 25-11, 25-19.
- Goucher (3-14, 0-2) took control of the first set with a 7-2 run capped by a Kailee Turner (Virginia Beach, Va./Kempsville) kill that made it 18-13.
- The Greyhounds chipped away and got within 23-22 before Goucher took advantage of back-to-back Moravian attack errors to close out the set.
- The fourth set was tied 13-13 when the guests scored four straight points.
- Goucher responded with three in a row capped by a Nicole Kovach (New York, N.Y./Quest to Learn) ace.
- Moravian closed out the set and the match on a 5-1 run.
- Turner notched her second triple-doubles of the season with 12 kills, 11 assists and 11 digs.
- Lucy Hendricks (Fort Bragg, Calif./Fort Bragg) added eight kills.
- Elizabeth Bobo (Milford, Pa./Delaware Valley) had five blocks assists to go with five kills on .385 hitting.
- Riley Kocell (Waxhaw, N.C./Cuthbertson) handed out 16 assists, while Kovach racked up 21 digs.
- Moravian hit .247 for the match while Goucher hit .069.
- Scranton (14-3, 2-0) prevailed by scores of 25-14, 25-19, 25-18.
- Goucher trailed 9-3 in the third before recording five straight points capped by a Rianne Nickerson (Corning, N.Y./Corning-Painted Post) ace.
- Up 21-18, the Royals recorded the final four points of the match.
- Turner again led the Gophers in kills with seven.
- Kocell notched 11 assists and sevne digs, while Kovach racked up 13 digs.
- Goucher's 10 block assists against Moravian were its third-highest single-match total this season.
- Kovach ranks fourth in the Landmark Conference with 4.91 digs per set.
- Goucher stays in Landmark Conference action, traveling to Elizabethtown Wednesday evening for a 7 pm contest.
