TOWSON, Md. - The Goucher College women's volleyball team dropped both ends of its Senior Day tri-match against Roanoke College and Rutgers-Camden at the Decker Sports and Recreation Center on Saturday. The Gophers fell 3-1 to the Maroons, before dropping a 3-0 decision to the Scarlet Raptors.
- Set scores were 21-25, 25-8, 25-16, 25-19.
- Goucher (4-20) hit .167 as it took a victory in the first set.
- Roanoke (11-11) responded by hitting .455 in the second set to even the match before hitting over .250 in each of the final two sets.
- Kailee Turner (Virginia Beach, Va./Kempsville) finished with 13 kills and 11 assists, while Lucy Hendricks (Fort Bragg, Calif./Fort Bragg) added 11 kills.
- Riley Kocell (Waxhaw, N.C./Cuthbertson) finished with 13 assists.
- Nicole Kovach (New York, N.Y./Quest to Learn) posted 13 digs in the opener, with Necole Stravino (Quezon City, Phillipines/Nandua (Va.)) adding nine.
- The Gophers racked up 11 service aces, with Rianne Nickerson (Corning, N.Y./Corning-Painted Post) leading the way with four and Turner recording three.
- Set scores against the Scarlet Raptors (13-13) were 25-17, 27-25, 30-28.
- The Gophers led 24-21 in both the second and third sets before Rutgers-Camden came back to win both sets.
- Elizabeth Bobo (Milford, Pa./Delaware Valley) hit .261 and had a team-high 10 kills, while Turner finished with nine.
- Bobo also had four block assists.
- Turner also had 12 assists, with Kocell posting 19 assists and eight digs.
- Kovach notched 21 digs, while Nickerson had nine.
- Prior to the second game, the Gophers honored seniors Bobo, Kovach, Nickerson, Eden Adcock (Stratford, N.J./Sterling Regional) and Rachel Chapman (Rochester, N.Y./Churchville-Chili).
- Turner's 13 kills in the opener marked her fifth double-digit kill match of the season while for Hendricks it was her third.
- Goucher travels to second-ranked Juniata on Wednesday, October 26.
- The Gophers close out the season next Saturday when they travel to Susquehanna for a Landmark quadmatch. Goucher faces the host River Hawks at 11 am and Drew at 4 pm.
