Bison Charge Past Gophers 3-1

TOWSON, Md. - Visiting Gallaudet University registered a 3-1 non-conference volleyball victory over Goucher College Wednesday evening at the Decker Sports and Recreation Center.  Set scores were 25-13, 25-8, 22-25, 25-16.

• Gallaudet (16-3) opened up an 8-3 lead in the opening frame.
• After a kill by Goucher's (2-11) Sarah Ferguson, five more Bison points put the guests up 13-4.
• After a Gallaudet attack error pulled the Gophers within 21-13, the Bison scored the last four points to take the set.

• After Gallaudet scored the first four points, Goucher scored five in a row to take a 5-4 lead.
• The Bison answered with 10 straight before an Amel Lightfoot kill stopped the run.

• The hosts took an early 7-4 lead on a Kailee Turner service ace.
• After the set was tied 9-9, Goucher rattled off six straight points capped by a Madison Amaya kill.
• The Gophers led 19-12 before a 10-4 Bison run pulled them within one, 23-22.
• An Imani Ward kill and a GU attack error closed out the set.

• Goucher led 4-3 following a Turner kill before Gallaudet scored six in a row to go up 9-4.
• Down 10-5, the Gophers scored four straight including a Turner service ace to pull within 10-9, and a Lightfoot block later tied the set 12-12.
• Leading 19-16, the Bison scored the final six points to close out the match.

• Turner hit .182 on the evening and racked up 13 kills and added five digs.
• Athena Savick had a team-high 13 digs, while Nicole Kovach added seven and Riley Kocell six.
• Amaya notched 10 assists, with Kocell recording seven.
• Dakota Hawkins finished with three blocks (one solo).
• Goucher hit .065 on the night while the Bison hit .311 as a team/

• Goucher opens Landmark Conference play Friday night when it hosts Scranton in a 7 pm match at the Decker Sports and Recreation Center.
