Gophers Upended by Drew 3-1

TOWSON, Md. - Visiting Drew University registered a 3-1 Landmark Conference women's volleyball victory over Goucher College Saturday afternoon at the Decker Sports and Recreation Center.  Set scores were 25-17, 25-17, 23-25, 25-17.

• Drew (2-10, 1-1 Landmark) scored six straight points to take an early 8-4 lead.
• Goucher (2-13, 0-2) cut the lead to three five times before the Rangers scored six straight points to take a 20-11 lead.
• Down 24-14, Goucher scored three straight points, including a Kailee Turner service ace.

• The set was tied three times early before six straight Drew points gave it a 9-4 lead.
• An Emma Taylor kill and a Madison Amaya service ace cut the Ranger lead to 9-6.
• The Gophers pulled within 12-10 before three straight Drew points made it a five-point set.
• Goucher whittled the lead back to three, 18-15, on a block by Rianne Nickerson and Taylor.
• Drew scored four of the final points of the set to close it out.

• Goucher jumped out to an 8-3 lead following a Taylor kill.
• After an Imani Ward kill and two Drew attack errors, the Gophers extended the lead to 21-14.
• Goucher led 24-19 following a Turner kill before the Rangers scored four straight to move to within 24-23.
• A Ranger attack error gave the Gophers the final point.

• Drew jumped out to a 7-1 lead before the Gophers scored four straight points that included kills by Turner and Amel Lightfoot and an Athena Savick service ace.
• The Rangers extended the lead to 15-7 before three straight points by the Gophers capped by a Nickerson kill.
• Drew led 23-12 before a 5-1 run by the Gophers made it 24-17.
• A Marissa Guajardo kill for Drew closed out the match.

• Turner finished with 13 kills and eight digs to lead the Gophers.
• Taylor and Ward each added seven kills, with Taylor hitting .158 on the afternoon.
• Taylor's seven kills were a career-best.
• Riley Kocell racked up a career-best 21 digs for Goucher while Savick registered 16.
• Nicole Kovach added 15 digs, while Amaya registered 10.
• Kocell handed out 16 assists, with Amaya recording 13.

• Goucher continues its homestand on Wednesday evening, hosting Trinity Washington in a 7 pm contest at the Decker Sports and Recreation Center.
