Gophers Celebrate Senior Day Against Rutgers-Camden

TOWSON, Md. - The Goucher College women's volleyball team closed out its season with a 3-0 non-conference setback to Rutgers-Camden on Saturday at the Decker Sports and Recreation Center. Set scores were 25-16, 25-15, 25-23.
- After falling behind 4-1 early, Goucher (3-21) scored five straight points to take a 6-4 lead on a Kailee Turner service ace.
- Rutgers Camden (14-13) countered with a 7-1 run to build a 12-7 lead.
- The Gophers pulled within three twice, including an Olivia DeBiasio kill that made it 19-16, before the Scarlet Raptors closed out the set with six straight points.
- Down 4-0, Goucher rallied to tie the set 9-9 on back-to-back kills by DeBiasio and Turner.
- A Turner service ace put Goucher back down two, 15-13, after it fell behind 15-11.
- Rutgers Camden had another strong finish, closing with a 10-2 run.
- The Gophers scored six straight points to take a 9-7 lead following a Rutgers attack error.
- The guests scored six straight of their own to go up 14-10.
- Down 19-16, four straight Gopher points capped by an Athena Savick service ace put the hosts up 20-1.
- The Raptors scored three in a row to take a 22-20 lead.
- Goucher closed the lead to one three times, the last on an Amel Lightfoot kill, that made it 24-23, but a Gopher attack error closed out the match.
- Prior to the match the Gophers honored their four seniors, Lightfoot, Nicole Kovach, Rianne Nickerson and Necole Stravino.
- Turner led the Gophers with 12 kills, while DeBiasio finished with eight.
- Turner also had a trio of service aces.
- Kovach, who was honored pregame for reaching 1000 career digs against Elizabethtown on Tuesday, finished with 19 digs.
- Riley Kocell registered 13 assists and six digs, while Madison Amaya had nine assists and seven digs.
- Savick added six digs and four aces.
