Three Runners from Goucher Finish Among Top 25
TOWSON, Md. — Goucher had one runner among the first 20 to cross the finish line and two more in the top 25 at today's Goucher Cross Country Classic.
TOWSON, Md. — Goucher had one runner among the first 20 to cross the finish line and two more in the top 25 at today's Goucher Cross Country Classic.
The overall winner of the 6,000-meter race was Allyson Kopera from Juniata, who recorded a time of 25:02.00. She finished more than 15 seconds ahead of Emily Lanbright from Moravian (25:17.63).
Anna Sandacz (Jessup, Md./Annapolis Area Christian School) was Goucher's top performer as she completed the race in 27:14.57, good for 16th place. Amanda Tascarella (Rocky Point, N.Y./Rocky Point) placed 23rd overall with her time of 27:39.96 and Camille Jorgensen (San Diego, Calif./Patrick Henry) was 25th (27:55.61).
Goucher's fourth runner was Zoe Malkin (Watchung, N.J./Watchung Hills Regional) in 36th place and the fifth was Jonelle Palmer (Nashville, Tenn./Hume Fogg Academic Magnet) in 54th. Malkin was clocked at 29:47.20 and Palmer at 31:48.08.
Seventy-seven runners were entered in the race.
Five of the top six schools in the team scoring were from the Landmark Conference. Moravian took first place with a score of 32 points, followed by Catholic (114 points) in second, Juniata (115) in third, Hood (116) in fourth, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (138) in fifth and Goucher (146) in sixth. The Gophers finished ahead of Stevenson (149), Northern Virginia Community (170), Howard Community (197), Gallaudet (280) and Community Baltimore County-Essex (289).
