STEVENSON, Md. — With the 2014 Landmark Conference Championships just 11 days away, Goucher ran today at the Mustang Twilight Tune Up. The Gophers placed fourth in the team scoring, with first place going to Johns Hopkins, second to McDaniel and third to Stevenson.
Out of the field of 27 entrants, the first runner to cross the finish line in the 4,000-meter race was Maggin Hashmall from Johns Hopkins. Her winning time was 15:20.3.
Goucher's top runner was Anna Sandacz (Jessup, Md./Annapolis Area Christian School), who was clocked at 16:40.0, good for 11th place. She was followed across the finish line by Camille Jorgensen (San Diego, Calif./Patrick Henry) in 12th place and Amanda Tascarella (Rocky Point, N.Y./Rocky Point) in 13th.
Only three female cross country runners in school history have recorded a faster time for four kilometers than Sandacz did today. Jorgensen's time of 16:46.5 now ranks fifth all-time and the 17:06.7 turned in by Tascarella puts her 12th on the all-time list for that distance.
The next runner to finish for the Gophers after Tascarella was Annie Drascher (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) in 22nd place with a time of 19:15.3.
The Blue Jays finished with a near-perfect team score of 19 points. The Green Terror beat out the Mustangs for second place by a single point, 65-66. The Gophers earned 79 points.
