The top performer for the Gophers was freshman Emily League (Bel Air, Md./Bel Air), who completed the 6,000-meter race in 26:50.53, good for 17th place. Soliana Goldrich (Austin, Texas/Beachwood) followed in 22nd place and was clocked at 27:17.31, which is more than two minutes faster than her best time for this distance as a freshman last season.
Anna Sandacz (Jessup, Md./Annapolis Area Christian School) and Hannah Brogan (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) crossed the finish line just over three seconds apart with Sandacz timed at 27:55.61 (26th place) and Brogan at 27:58.79 (27th place). Goucher's No. 5 runner in the season-opening event was Jonelle Palmer (Nashville, Tenn./Hume Fogg Academic Magnet) in 44th place (29:59.79).
Emilie Barton from Philadelphia was the individual champion. Her winning time was 25:05.95.
With a score of 127 points, Goucher finished 35 points behind Arcadia for third place and 18 ahead of Delaware Valley for fifth in the final team standings.
