Senior Soliana Goldrich (Austin, Texas) earned her first career win in the 2017 Goucher College Cross Country Classic on Saturday.
TOWSON, Md. – Senior Soliana Goldrich (Austin, Texas) earned her first career win in the 2017 Goucher College Cross Country Classic on Saturday.
Goucher placed two competitors in the top-10 at the Goucher College Cross Country Classic held on Goucher College campus Saturday. Goldrich and junior Kelly Johnson (Wayne, Pa.) finished in first place and ninth place, respectively.
Goldrich opened the race on a tear and refused to look back, holding the lead from the first check-point to the finish line. She completed the 6k course in 25:31.98, more than 25 seconds ahead of the second place finisher in the race. The Austin, Texas native cut nearly two minutes off her time from 2016 (27:15.30) and nearly 10 minutes off her first-year time (34:09.60) on the Goucher College course.
Johnson was the second Goucher runner to cross the finish line with a time of 28:28.42. The Gophers were joined in the top-10 by graduate, Kelsey Myette '12 with a time of 28:27.96 – good enough for a non-scoring eighth-place finish. Fellow Goucher grad, Hadley Couraud '13, finished in 12th place.
Junior Hannah Brogan (Chatham, N.J.) finished the race in 18th place with a time of 30:33.61 for Goucher. First-year Isabel Srour (Potomac, Md.) and sophomore Edith Hollander (Larchmont, N.Y) completed the Gopher scoring, finishing in 25th and 31st, respectively.
The Gophers finished in fourth place as a team with 84 points. St. Mary's (Md.) took home the title with a score of 30.
Goucher takes a two-week break before heading to Juniata College for the 11th Landmark Conference Cross Country Championships on October 28th.
