The 11th Landmark Conference Cross Country Championships were hosted today by Juniata College at Standing Stone Golf Club in Huntingdon PA on a challenging, hilly course. The Gophers were led by Senior Soliana Goldrich (Austin, Tx.), who finished 16th overall with a time of 25:38.05. Her top 20 placement is the first one for the Gophers in this event since 2013.
Also placing for the Gophers were Hannah Brogan (Chatham, N.J.) in 59th place (29:39.41), Isabel Srour in 71st (31:24.32), Jennifer Alves (Goias, Brazil) in 81st (33:30.73) and Edith Hollander in 82nd (35:31.35). The Gopher women finished in 7th place as Elizabethtown College won its fourth straight championship.
Coach Caslin's thoughts about the meet: "Soliana finished out her senior campaign with style. She has run great all season and was in 20th place with about 2000 meters to go. She just missed all-conference and would have made it if she hadn't run out of real estate; it was an outstanding race. We were missing 3 of our top 7 today and got strong performances out of our back runners especially Hannah Brogan."
Selected members of the Gopher squad will run in two weeks at the NCAA Mid-east Regional Qualifier in Carlisle Pa.
