Soliana Goldrich (Austin, TX / Beachwood (Ohio) of the Goucher College women's cross country team has been named the 2017 Landmark Conference Senior Scholar-Athlete for the sport, the conference office announced late Wednesday.
The honorees must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.20 and are selected by a committee of Landmark Conference officers, athletics directors, senior woman administrators, faculty athletic representatives, and sports information directors. In all, the Landmark Conference selects 22 senior scholar-athletes each year to recognize the top student-athlete in each sport based on academics and athletics.
All-time, Goldrich becomes the fourth Goucher College runner to earn Landmark Scholar-Athlete accolades for women's cross country, joining J. Fraley Coles (2007), Hadley Couraud (2012), and Kathryn Walker (2013).
In 2017, Goldrich served as the team captain for the Gophers, as she recorded the first top 20 finish for a Goucher women's runner at the Landmark Conference Championships since 2013 in late October, finishing 16th on a challenging course at Juniata. She also captured the Goucher Cross Country Classic earlier in October, finishing in 25:32.
Off the course, Goldrich has registered a 3.74 cumulative grade point average in Psychology. She will graduate magna cum laude with honors at the conclusion of the Fall term.
For her academic accolades, Goldrich has been named to the Landmark Conference's Academic Honor Roll twice for Cross Country (2015, 2016) and in 2016-17 in both Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field. She also earned the Conference's Sportsmanship Award for cross country in 2015, as well.
Goldrich is also a member of PSI Chi (International Honors Society for Psychology) since 2016. She has presented at Eastern Psychological Conference in Boston and will be presenting at the Psychonomic Society in Vancouver later this fall. She has made Goucher's Dean list each semester since the fall 2015 and was inducted into Chi Alpha Sigma (National Athletic Honor Society) last spring. Soliana will start a PHD program next fall for Neuroscience with a focus on psycholinguistics.
Soliana has served a resident assistant for two years. Has numerous volunteer experiences on her resume and has been a leader in starting an Interfaith club on Goucher's campus.
