Holtzman And Hanson Pace Goucher Cross Country At Howard University Labor Day Classic
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Laila Hanson and Joey Holtzman paced the Goucher College men's and women's cross country team at the Howard University Labor Day Classic on Saturday.
"Given the heat conditions and our team training goals for this meet, we saw a lot of heart today," said head coach John Caslin. "It was great to have Joey Holtzman make his Goucher debut today and also have senior Joel Nadler return to the team. It was a solid effort for those who competed today."
Hanson finished 22nd in a field that included a pair of NCAA Division I programs with a time of 24:24.56 to pace the women's cross country team. Isabel Srour (29th place, 25:31.88) and Luca Green (32nd place, 27:33.66) also competed for the Gophers in the season opener.
Holtzman made his collegiate debut to lead the pack for Goucher men's cross country, finishing in 31st place and a time of 20:08.13. Joel Nadler, who ran on the team as freshman, placed 34th with a time of 20:35.01 in his first collegiate race since 2016. Connor Lawrence (42nd place, 22:11.02) and Nick Jackson (44th place, 23:30.64) rounded out the Gophers pack.
