Hanson And Lawrence Pace Goucher Cross Country At Catholic Classic
COLMAR PARK, Md. - Connor Lawrence (Gaithersburg, Md./Wootton) and Laila Hanson (Churchville, Md./C. Milton Wright) paced the Goucher College cross country team at the Catholic Classic on Saturday.
Hanson was the women's top finisher in 34th place with a time of 28:36.90 while Lawrence finished 67th with a time of 36:11.70 to pace the Gophers men's team on the course that will run for the Landmark Conference Cross Country Championships at the end of the season.
"We got a good look at the Landmark Conference Championship course today and had many of our Gophers make their seasonal or collegiate debuts," said head coach John Caslin. "We have a lot of work to do, but we got off to a good start. We will be a lot better when we return in November."
Along with Lawrence on the men's side, Nick Jackson (Ellicott City, Md./Mount Hebron) (68th place, 37:33.50), Ricky Rubin (Severn, Md./Old Mill) (72nd place, 39:46.70), Nick Aliquo (South Portland, Maine/Baxter Academy) (74th place, 44:27.70) and Mia Taylor (Bowie, Md./Wakefield) (78th place, 58:45.20) rounded out the five competitors for the men.
For the women, Eva Bulson-Lewis (Minneapolis, Minn./Trinity School at River Ridge) (51st place, 31:27.10) and Isabel Srour (Potomac, Md./Winston Churchill) (53rd place, 32:03.80) also ran in the event.
Goucher returns to action at the 11th Annual Hornet Harrier Invitational hosted by Shenandoah on Sept. 28.
