Goucher Women's Cross Country Wins Goucher Cross Country Classic; Hanson And Holtzman Pace The Teams
BALTIMORE, Md. – Laila Hanson (Churchville, Md./C. Milton Wright) finished third in the college division to help the Goucher College women's cross country team win the Goucher College Cross Country Classic on Saturday. Joey Holtzman (Bloomington, Minn./Thomas Jefferson) placed sixth to pace the Gophers men's team.
Hanson finished third with a time of 28:51.47 while Holtzman was sixth with a time of 33:41.82.
Eva Bulson-Lewis (Minneapolis, Minn./Trinity School at River Ridge) established her best time of the fall to finish in fourth place with a time 29:52.26. Isabel Srour (Potomac, Md./Winston Churchill) placed sixth (32:17.39), Lily Reiser (Madison, Wisc./Madison West) finished 11th (35:27.91), Autumn Krist was 18th (39:56.60), Yinesha Taylor (Baltimore, Md./Hereford) was 21st (42:57.16) and Leah Wodajo (Potomac, Md./Winston Churchill) finished 24th (51:54.34). It was the first collegiate race for Reiser and Krist.
The Goucher women repeated as team champion.
Along with Holtzman, Nick Jackson (Ellicott City, Md./Mount Hebron) (12th place, 35:33.68), Ricky Rubin (Severn, Md./Old Mill) (16th place, 38:02.08) and Nicholas Aliquo (South Portland, Maine/Baxter Academy) (22nd place, 44:27.31) also competed for the Gopher men.
Two Goucher female alums finished in the Top-6 of the women's race. Sarah Maffei-Yoyo finished sixth overall with a time of 31:56.10 and Christine Cherry won the overall race with time of 28:24.71.
Goucher returns to action at the 13th Annual Hood College Open in the final tune up for the Landmark Conference Cross Country Championships on October 19.
