Thornton-Fillyaw Wins Coach Caslin Classic
TOWSON, Md. - Sophomore Tanise Thornton-Fillyaw of the Goucher College women's cross country team took first place as the Gophers hosted the Coach Caslin Classic on campus Friday afternoon.
Thornton-Fillyaw posted a 6K time of 24:18.24 to finish more than three minutes ahead of the field. Alexandrea Kile of Potomac State College placed second with a time of 27:30.59.
Daya Sathyaraj also posted a top-10 finish for the Gophers, as she placed ninth with a time of 29:32.60. Skye Washington came in 12th overall at 29:37.71, while Reese Finnigan recorded a 17th place finish, checking in at 31:04.01.
Jair Smith registered a top-10 finish for the men's cross country team, as he recorded an 8K time of 30:12.13 to place eighth. Sean Whitfield came in in 11th with a time of 30:38.87, while Johan Martinez was 19th with a time of 31:53.89.
The Goucher cross country teams return to action Friday, October 27 when they compete at the Landmark Conference Championship hosted by Juniata College.
