Thornton-Fillyaw, Keels Post Top Finishes at LVC

LEBANON, Pa. - Goucher College women's cross country junior Tanise Thornton-Fillyaw and men's cross country first year Jayden Keels each posted strong finishes as the Gopher cross country teams competed at the Lebanon Valley Dutchmen Invitational at Union Canal Tunnel Park Saturday morning.
Thornton-Fillyaw, making her first appearance of the season, finished third overall in the women's 5K, checking in with a time of 18:31.1, trailing only Tara Smurla of Moravian (18:22.7) and Coyla Bartholomew of LVC (18:24.2).
Sister Terrica Thornton-Fillyaw placed 89th with a time of 22:09.4. Imaya Edmonds ran a time of 23:04, while Reese Finnigan checked in at 23:12.3. Daya Sathyaraj ran a time of 23:22.0. The Gopher women placed 11th out of 19 competing teams.
Keels, coming off a sixth-place finish in the season-opening Baltimore Metro Meet, placed 12th in the men's 8K with a time of 26:30.0. Jair Smith came home 53rd with a time of 28:16.1, while Sam Dylan ran 28:22.6 to cross the line 56th.
Goucher is now idle until Saturday, September 28, when it competes in the Don Cathcart Invitational hosted by Salisbury University.
