Gophers Sweep Top Spots at Coach Caslin Classic
TOWSON, Md. - The Goucher College men's and women's cross country teams each had the top finisher in their respective races at the Coach Caslin Cross Country Classic hosted by the Gophers on Friday afternoon. First year Jayden Keels took first in the men's 8K race, while junior Tanise Thornton-Fillyaw was first in the women's 6K.
Keels led a sweep of the top three spots for the Gopher men. Keels ran eight kilometers in 27:41.79, besting sophomore Sam Dylan, who placed second with a time of 28:10.64. Jair Smith came in third, checking in at 28:33.75.
The Goucher women took five of the top nine spots. Thornton-Fillyaw ran a time of 23:34.06 to outdistance her closest competitor, Michaela Gross of Hagerstown Community College, by just under a minute.
Senior Reese Finnigan placed fifth with a time of 27:52.72. Imaya Edmonds clocked in at 28:29.11 to come in seventh, while Terrica Thornton-Fillyaw was eighth with a time of 28:48.44. Daya Sathyaraj finished ninth with a time of 28:51.13.
The Gophers are back in action on Saturday, November 2 when they compete in the 2024 Landmark Conference Cross Country Championships hosted by Elizabethtown College.
