WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - When scores from today's IHSA Zone IV Region I show are added in, Goucher slips from first place to second place behind Mary Washington in the region standings, but Brittany Martin (Ocean City, MD/Worcester Prep) remains the region's overall high point rider.
Goucher placed second today with a team score of 36 points. Mary Washington picked up 41 points today, enough to pass Goucher in the region standings: Mary Washington 155, Goucher 151.
Martin, who was awarded second place today in open equitation on the flat, maintained her three-point lead, 43-40, over Brittany Yates from Richmond for high point rider in the region as both riders earned seven points today. Erin Richardson from Mary Washington picked up 11 points today and now trails Martin by five.
Three Goucher riders offered first-place performances today: Allison Wherley (Glen Rock, PA/Susquehannock) in open equitation over fences, Sarah Pandolfini (New York, NY/Buckston) in intermediate flat and Kelly Usher (Glastonbury, CT/Glastonbury) in novice flat. Julie Fink (Baltimore, MD/Garrison Forest School), Claire McMahon (Kings Point, NY/Our Lady of Mercy Academy) and Valerie Wiseman (Chapel Hill, NC/Chapel Hill) were awarded second place in open flat, intermediate fences and advanced walk-trot-canter, respectively.
