Jabin Rises from Novice Division to be High Point Rider

Scott Places Second, Qualifies for Region IV-I Meet in Walk-Trot

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. — Goucher's Addie Jabin (Annapolis, Md./Severn School) surfaced as the high point rider today at the second of back-to-back IHSA Zone IV Region I riding shows conducted at Hazelwild Farm.

Jabin, who completed in the novice division, was awarded first place in both the jumping and flat phases.

In the intermediate division, Courtney Levine (Miami, Fla./Miami Palmetto) placed first in fences and second in flat; in the open division, Karli Postel (Newbury Park, Calif./Oaks Christian School) was second in the jumping phase.

Emily McCormack (Northport, N.Y./St. Anthony's) and Kitty Martin (Silver Spring, Md./Montgomery Blair) placed second and third, respectively, in advanced walk-trot-canter equitation; Lori Scott (Catonsville, Md./Catonsville) placed second in walk-trot and earned enough points to qualify to compete at the Region IV-I meet in April.

Amory Brandt (Saratoga, Calif./Lynbrook) and Postel held on to second and third place, respectively, in the region's high point rider standings, but Goucher, which was the reserve champion today, lost its seven-point lead over Mary Washington in the Region IV-I standings. Brandt fell 13 points behind Katherine Wallace from William & Mary for high point rider honors, with Postel 15 points in back of the leader. In the team standings, Goucher and Mary Washington are tied with 216 points apiece with two riding shows remaining.
