Goucher Earns 35 Points, Shares First Place
TOWSON, Md. — A two-way tie for first place in the IHSA Zone IV Region I standings developed when points earned at the second show of the season were added in. Goucher, which had a three-point lead over Mary Washington going in, earned 35 points at today's University of Maryland Baltimore Co. Show.
Postel, Brandt Sitting 2-3 in High Point Rider Standings
TOWSON, Md. — A two-way tie for first place in the IHSA Zone
IV Region I standings developed when points earned at the second
show of the season were added in. Goucher, which had a three-point
lead over Mary Washington going in, earned 35 points at today's
University of Maryland Baltimore Co. Show.
Mary Washington was the high point college today, picking up 38
points, enough to gain a share of the top spot in the region
standings. Christopher Newport and William & Mary are tied for
third place with 55 points apiece.
Katherine Wallace, a rider from William & Mary, took over
first place in the Zone IV-I high point rider standings with a
total of 24 points in the first two shows. Two riders from Goucher
are right behind her: freshman Karli Postel (Newbury Park,
Calif./Oaks Christian School) is in second place with 23
points and sophomore Amory Brandt (Saratoga,
Calif./Lynbrook) is third with 22 points.
Postel and Brandt were two of the top performers today in the open division: Postel placed first in open equitation over fences and second in open equitation on the flat; Brandt was second in both phases.
There were two other first-place performances by Goucher riders today: by Catherine Gregory (Oregon City, Ore./Canby) in intermediate flat and Kitty Martin (Silver Spring, Md./Montgomery Blair) in advanced walk-trot-canter.
