Zumbrun's Riders Regain First Place in Zone IV-I

Levine, Kerns Qualify to Represent Goucher at Regionals

TOWSON, Md. — The two-way tie for first place in the IHSA Zone IV Region I standings was broken today when Goucher emerged as the high point college at the third show of the season.  With the 35 points earned at the Goucher College Show, head coach Patte Zumbrun's riding program opened up a four-point lead over Mary Washington.

Goucher also produced the high point rider at today's show in sophomore Amory Brandt (Saratoga, Calif./Lynbrook), who was awarded first place in open equitation over fences and on the flat. Three shows into the season, Brandt and Katherine Wallace from William & Mary are co-leaders in the region's high point rider standings.

Karli Postel (Newbury Park, Calif./Oaks Christian School) also distinguished herself while representing Goucher in the open division today. The freshman placed second in jumping and third in the flat phase.

In the intermediate division, Courtney Levine (Miami, Fla./Miami Palmetto) turned in a first-place performance in the flat phase and Chaz Kellogg (Pennington, N.J./Wellesley) took second place in fences. In the novice division, Levine placed third and qualified for the Zone IV-I Championships in April in fences and Addie Jabin (Annapolis, Md./Severn School) and Laura Parks (Apex, N.C./Raleigh Charter) placed first and third, respecitvely, in the flat phase.

Levine wasn't the only Goucher rider to qualify for regionals today: April Kerns (Timonium, Md./Dulaney) did so with a first-place performance in advanced walk-trot-canter equitaiton.
