FREDERICKSBURG, Va. — Goucher was the reserve high point college with a team score of 36 points at today's IHSA Zone IV Region I show, the second of two conducted this weekend at Hazelwild Farm.
One day after becoming a regional qualifier in open equitation over fences, Karli Postel (Newbury Park, Calif./Oaks Christian School) qualified to compete in open on the flat at the Region I Championships in April. She was also declared the winner in her open fences class at today's show.
In the intermediate division, Addie Jabin (Annapolis, Md./Severn School) placed first in the jumping phase and second in the flat phase. She previously qualified for regionals out of the novice division in both fences and flat.
Madeleine Holmes (Glendale, Calif./Crescenta Valley) placed first in her novice flat class.
Effie Bourgin (Savage, Md./Atholton) was awarded first place in advanced walk-trot-canter, earning enough points to advance to the regional meet. Madison Tidwell (Sun Valley, Idaho/Middle College) placed second in walk-trot.
The only team to score more points than Goucher today was Mary Washington, which added 40 points to its total for the season to hang on to first place in the Zone IV Region I standings. With one more show remaining, Mary Washington enjoys a 275-255 lead over Goucher.
